Freebie Friday - Bunny Easter Egg holders

Today we are going to share a fun way to display your colored Easter eggs.  We are giving you directions and the pattern so you have plenty of time to make these for Easter.

 
 
To create these sweet little bunnies, you will first need to gather your supplies and print "this" patttern.  (We have included the chick holder from Two Paper Divas as well.) 

Supplies include:  White and pink card stock, punches, ribbon, and embroidery floss.

Trace and cut out the bunny on white card stock.(the ears on pink) 

 

We then ran ours through the Big Shot using a polka dot embossing folder.  This creates a fun texture on our bunny.

 

Now put his face on :)  We used the Two-Step Owl punch from SU! to create the eyes.  We found this size worked perfect.  You could use gogglie eyes.  You can go as basic or "over-the-top" as you choose.   We made an eyelid with eyelashes for ours.  (cut the large circle in half and fringe and curl for lashes.)  We used embroidery floss for his whiskers.

We also added ribbon and eyelet around the neck.

 

Add Scor-tape to one end of holder.

 
Wrap around your egg and secure. Add a pom pom or cotton ball for his tail.

Halloween Envelope Box

Last month, on August 20th , we shared a sample of the envelope-style box made at our demonstrator shoe box swap.  Here is another sample, for Halloween, using the new Two-Step Owl punch.  We closed this box with velcro instead of ribbon.  Here are the supplies we used:

• Card Stock -  Basic Black, Cajun Craze
• DSP - Wicked Fun Specialty
• Other -  Two-Step Owl punch, 1-3/8" circle punch, Scallop Trim Border, dimensionals, velcro

 
These are really easy to make and would make great trick-or-treats for the classroom, co-workers, or if you are really ambitious, the neighborhood kids.  You can get the pattern here .

 

Backpacks

Happy Friday, everyone!  Today we are sharing a couple of ideas for the small backpack that has been around awhile.  You can find the pattern here.   One is a patriotic quilt theme and the other is masculine - just in time for Father's Day.

The first backpack is made with Real Red and Night of Navy 1" squares.  They have been glued to a Kraft-based backpack.  Everything has been sponged.  White "stitches" were created with a white gel pen...of course, you could get out the sewing machine.  The chipboard star was covered with Whisper White card stock and sponged with Creamy Caramel.  The backpack and pocket have velcro fasteners.  The back straps were made with Real Red grosgrain ribbon.

The second backpack is made with Always Artichoke card stock and accented with some retired DSP, very masculine looking.  It has been sponged with Always Artichoke and Creamy Caramel.  This back pack uses the cotton twill for the back straps as well as an accent on the front flap.  The compass embellishment is from the Sentimental Journey stamp set, which can be found in the Summer Mini catalog.

Here is a look at the back of the back pack so you can see the straps.  If you haven't made one of these in a while or have never tried one, now is a great time to play around with it.

Vintage Shoe

This is a pattern that was given to me by one of my customer/friends, Debbie, that we recently did for a stamp club project.  For club we had fun using lots of retired and retiring DSP but with July 4th just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to create an old vintage patriotic look. 

Supplies:

• card stock - Very Vanilla
• ink - Real Red, Night of Navy, Creamy Caramel
• embellishments - red buttons, star stamp from retired stamp set

These shoes would be perfect party favors for a Sweet 16, Bridal shower, ladies' luncheon, etc.  These can be filled with candy, paper filler, small favors.  We have attached the pattern for you to try your own style.  There are two pieces - View this photo and View this photo

Father's Day "Chocolate" Box

This Ghiradelli box, which you can find on Splitcoast Stampers here, can be used for so many things besides chocolate. 

We were thinking about this one being a little more masculine-looking for Father's Day.  Here we have shown it with Ghiradelli Chocolate.  Three fit perfect but you can "stuff" four in it if you want.

A couple of other ideas - nuts & bolts, fishing supplies (lures), office supplies (paper clips, rubber bands), golf tees, etc.

 

 

For My "Sweet" Dad

With Father's Day just around the corner, we decided to create a "sweet" pattern for you to use!  You can grab our hand-drawn pattern for the ice cream card base and scoop here. (View this photo)  This special card fits perfectly in a Stampin' Up! Small Open-End Envelope that is 6-3/4" x 3-1/2". 

After cutting out the pattern base, we cut out two more cones and 3 scoops.  We textured both cone pieces with the new SU! exclusive, Square Lattice.  We also cut three ice cream scoops.

We glued one of the textured cones onto the card base.  To create the pocket for the tag, we cut the second cone piece starting at the top right corner, at an angle down an inch or so.  We only glued it around the sides so that we left the top open for our pocket.  You could fit a tag, like we did, or even money in the pocket. 

Ingredients:

• Chocolate Ice Cream - Close to Cocoa DSP
• Strawberry Ice Cream - Pretty in Pink DSP
• Vanilla Ice Cream - retired DSP (sorry) you could easily use Very Vanilla card stock
• Cone & Tag - Close to Cocoa & Very Vanilla card stock; cone is embossed with the new SU! exclusive embossing folder, Square Lattice. 
• Sponged with Creamy Caramel
• Words hand-written for that "personal" touch using Close to Cocoa marker
• Small Tag and Tag punches

Big Shot Wednesday - Week #1 Perfect Setting

This month our projects will have a little more vintage feel.  We both love vintage and this Perfect Setting die just fit the bill.  Our first project is this adorable apron gift card holder.....perfect for mom!  Even though this is retired DSP, it seemed perfect for this project.  Of course, EVERYTHING has been sponged with Creamy Caramel giving it an "old" look.  We used three of the cupcake "bases" to create the ruffles - two on the front and one inside.  We aren't sure you can see all the detail, but we faux stitched around the apron and the pocket.  Here is a link for the apron.

The inside of the card is designed so you can insert a gift card or money.  Of course, it would be adorable just as a note or card.  You could even use it to pass along a small recipe.

• Paper - Whisper White card stock, Bella Rose DSP
• Ink - Creamy Caramel (pad and marker)
• Embellishments - Kiwi Kiss striped ribbon, Kiwi Kiss buttons, Polka Dot embossing folder, SU! exclusive Perfect Setting Die, Dimensionals

Black & White with a Cherry on Top

Today's featured cupcake idea is an idea we have used before....probably because we LOVE note pads.  This pattern (one of our favorites) is one you can down load here .  

  

Supplies:  

• Card Stock - Whisper White, Basic Black, Real Red
• DSP - Groom Specialty Paper
• Stamp Set - On a Pedestal (page 71) and Tiny Tags
• Embellishments - Real Red grosgrain ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Dimensionals, buttons, Scallop and Circle punches, black ink

You can customize this pattern - with or without a pocket.  You can close it with ribbon, velcro or a magnet as we have shown.

The "Sweet" is from On The Pedestal - just one word from the phrase. 

"Easter" Basket Friday

Today is Good Friday and our last basket idea before Easter.  We have enjoyed creating all these ideas over the last several weeks and hope you have enjoyed seeing them.  Maybe we have even inspired you to create some for yourself or those special someones in your life.

This basket was made from a pattern we found here on Splitcoast Stampers.  We used Ballet Blue card stock and Pawsitively Prints DSP. 

The egg and chick come from the stamp set, A Good Egg.  We stamped the chick, colored him with a blender pen and So Saffron ink; then cut him out.  We stamped the "rick rack" design on a scrap of DSP, glued it to the egg and then used it as a guide to cut off the top of the egg.  The egg is hinged together using a blue brad.  "Happy Easter" was stamped and punched out using the Word Window punch.  

A piece of So Saffron ribbon from the Ribbon Originals Elementary collection was added to the handle using mini glue dots.  Rhinestone brads secure the handle to the basket.  A little bling on the egg, grass in the basket, add a few chocolate eggs and the basket is ready to go.  Another great basket to share!

Another PPA35 Challenge - Round Top Box

See, didn't I say that Gayla and I would have to play along again this week with the gals over at Pals Paper Arts!  We created this fun project using the round top box pattern.  We can't find where we originally found the pattern so we've included it here. View this photo   We have adhered two of the boxes together - back to back.  Of course, it is great as a single box, too.

Supplies used -

• Card Stock - Taken with Teal, Real Red, Whisper White
• DSP - Sweet Pea Paper Stack
• Ink - Taken with Teal
• Stamps - Hello Again
• Other - Ribbon, XL Fancy Flower punch, large oval punch, Polka Dot Embossing folder, 3/4" circle punch

This is a great box/basket that can be used for MANY things - Easter, Mother's Day, graduation, Christmas, Halloween, birthdays, baby showers......the possibilities are endless.
