My daughter Chelsea recently had a birthday and we celebrated this past weekend. I thought I'd share with you all this very vintage notebook I made for her. She also loves the vintage shabby chic look so when I found this paper I knew it was perfect for her and I was right, she loved it!! I had seen this idea in multiple places but it wasn't until Gayla made them that I got really inspired to create one myself.
I started with the file folder tutorial that can be found on Splitcoast Stampers here.
Once I had the folder scored and ready for paper, the rest was easy and came together so nicely.
The Vintage Patchwork, Newsprint and Shabby Flower patterned paper are all from "The Girls Paperie". The library card is one I downloaded from Heather Nichols site some time ago. It was printed on Very Vanilla card stock, cut out and sponged. I used a few of the stamps from PTI's Take Note set.
The flower is one you've seen us use a few times here on our blog. You can see more examples here as well as a link on how to make them.
The buttons were punched using Stampin' Up's new Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. I adhered the paper buttons to the clear matching shaped buttons after tying them with some thread.
I covered two small clothespins to match.
On the inside I added a few stripes of coordinating paper, a little more sponging and covered the top of the notepad.
Gayla and I are working on some more of these so be watching for some more great examples.
A a small velcro dot was used to keep the notebook closed.
The front was also embellished with a piece of tea dyed rick rack that was sewn onto a piece of felt ric rack.
After completing the book I felt like it really needed to be presented to her in a "vintage" type wrapping so I created this gift sack to match.
More matching paper, ric rack and buttons. The ribbon is some of our "must have" vintage stock that you can find here.
I hope you all have a wonderful day!
Melissa
