Take Two Tuesday - Wine Charm Beads

So, today we are thinking ahead to Valentine's Day and created these wine charms for a pair of wine glasses.

 
We used a couple of red paper beads along with pearls and heart charms.  What a fun idea for Valentine's Day, an anniversary, weddings, showers, etc.  Of course, wine charms can be made for any occasion.

Oh, Christmas Tree...

and drum roll, please......

This is the gift Gayla received at our Christmas party which was created by another one of our friends and fellow stamping buddies, April Schoenberg.

 

Didn't she do a great job!  The pillow is made with the Deck the Halls fabric and the SU! Scallop Square Big Shot die.  It is made just like all those fabric bags you have seen over the last year.  The Christmas tree in the center is made using the Pennant die.  Notice, there is even a brown tree trunk made with Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon.  The finished pillow measures about 10-1/2" square.  She washed all the square before stuffing to give it that old, vintage look - love it.

Cookie Cutter Ornaments!

These are the fun ornaments that Melissa made for everyone at our annual SU Christmas party.  They were all different and unique.  Each was covered with a strip of DSP and embellished with ribbon, buttons, tinsel, bells, etc. 

 
Hang 'em on a tree or place 'em at each place setting.  They would also be a great trim for all your holiday packages.

 

These were fun and a great way to use lots of left over scraps of holiday paper.  Don't just think Christmas....we think they would be great fun for any party.  Be thinking hearts!

So cute snowman...

This cute little guy is the gift Melissa was fortunate to acquire. :) Isn't he the most dapper snowman you've ever seen?   Our friend and fellow stamping buddy, Patti O'Toole, is the talented one who created him!

 

His body is paper mache' boxes that have been covered with Deck the Halls DSP.  She used Early Espresso 1-1/4" striped grosgrain ribbon for his hat band.  Notice his buttons...they are the rolled roses made with the same Deck the Halls DSP.

Party Time!

This past Saturday was our annual Stampin' Up! Christmas party.  Not only did we all have a great time, the gifts that everyone created were wonderful!!  We will be sharing several of the projects with you over the next few weeks before Christmas.  But first, here are the two we made.

All the projects have to be handmade, of course, using Stampin' Up! products.  

J O Y to the world.....

Each of the wood blocks used for this project measure 3-1/2" x 6".  They were stained and were layered with Deck the Halls DSP.

The letters are chipboard that were covered with Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

If you look close, the flowers and holly are all cut out and layered on the background.

It's all hinged together so it will sit perfectly anywhere.

The wreath is a wire frame that was totally loaded up with tags which we cut out using the Two Tags die.

The DSP is Candy Cane Christmas.

The several styles and colors of ribbon were used - Real Red grosgrain, 1/8" Taffeta; Blushing Bridge stitched poly ribbon; Wild Wasabi retired ribbon.

The base of tags were tied on and then layers upon layers of tags were added to create fullness and to fill in gaps.

Buttons and more ribbons were added as finishing touches.

A gift for someone who has everything..Initial Ornaments

We were inspired by the initial ornaments found at our local Pottery Barn.  We knew we could make something very similar with all of our stamping supplies.  These were made with Nestabilities but we also made some with the Big Shot Scallop Circle #2 die and the large clear circle die.  It will depend on what size of initial you use.  Ours were made with the Serif Essentials alphabet dies.

 
We cut two scallops from Very Vanilla card stock and glued them together for stability.  The letters were die cut with Basic Black card stock and glued on to the front with Tombow glue.  We used the Crop-a-Dile to punch and set our jumbo eyelets.  Silver glass glitter was used to outline the scallop.  You could also use the tinsel trim around the edges if you wanted to avoid the glitter mess!  We used Real Red grosgrain ribbon as the tie and embellished with small jingle bells. 

 
You can also use double-sided patterned paper.  What a great tag to add to all your wrapped packages.

Take Two Tuesday - "Paper Beads"

Remember when we did this scissor charm tutorial?  We decided to show you several ways to use these paper beads.

Halloween Flower & Spider Bouquet!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, EVERYONE!!!

How fun are these!!!  We created a great centerpiece for your Halloween party --- a fun bouquet of flowers made with Halloween DSP, spiders, black stems and buttons! 

 
The flowers were arranged in a jar filled with colorful Halloween candy - bones, skulls, ghosts, etc.  We found a great video tutorial to make these flowers here!  We can't wait to make more of these flowers for other occasions.  These flowers do not have to be added to stems.  In fact, most ideas we've seen have been added to boxes, gift bags, tags, etc.  Use your imagination.

Big Shot Wednesday - Week #2 Buttons #5

Here we have used the die to create this fun bouquet of button flowers.  We used all three sizes of circle buttons to create our flowers. 

As you can see in this picture, the buttons were cut out and layered multiple times - at least 5.  We glued all five or more layers together with a glue stick.  This creates dimension like "real" buttons.  We "strung" the buttons with black wire that was twisted to create our stems.  These flowers were created with Real Red and Pumpkin Pie card stock but you could use any color scheme.

As you can see, we chose to put our bouquet in one of our vintage spools but they are very cute in a small glass vase as well.  We tied more of our vintage scrunched ribbon around the spool.

Big Shot Wednesday

Big Shot Wednesday - Week #1 5-point 3D Star

This month our featured Big Shot die is the 5-point 3D Star found on page 199 in the main catalog.  Stay tuned for the month as we use this die for much more than just stars....although we love stars!

With the Christmas holiday just past, it is obvious that this die is perfect for stars.  But as you can see with our sample, you can make stars for many occasions.  This star is made with paper from the Simply Scrappin' kit, Love Sparkles, page 167, as well as, the new Sending Love Specialty DSP from the Occasions Mini, page 13.

Depending on what you are using the star for, you can reinforce the star with chipboard - like the kind found in the SU! paper packs.  The star has been sponged and faux stitched with Chocolate Chip.  The chipboard heart has been covered with Chocolate Chip craft ink and embossed with Iridescent Ice powder.  The ribbon is 5/8" Regal Rose Grosgrain.  A white pipe cleaner has been attached to the back of the star as a hanger.  The words are also from the Simply Scrappin' Kit, Love Sparkles.  The pink buttons are not SU.
