Happy Saturday, everyone! Can you believe September is almost gone!! Christmas will be here before you know it....
Today, we want to share a couple of easy, cute ideas for a 3x3 card using the Sweet Treat cups. You could easily do the same idea with the Heart Treat cups....be thinking Valentine's Day!
This one was made using some of the new Autumn Spice Designer Series Paper that can be found on page 13 of the Holiday Mini catalog. Gayla created this one for her stamp club earlier this month. It is a quick and easy project that doesn't take alot of paper or supplies.
We decided to do a Halloween-themed one for this mini tutorial. That way you have two ideas in the same post! Keep reading for step-by-step instructions.
Gather all your supplies. Supplies needed to make this card:
- Card Stock - 3" x 6" Basic Black; 2-3/4" square Whisper White; 2" x 2-5/8" Basic Black, scrap Pumpkin Pie (enough for the Round Tab punch)
- DSP - 2-7/8" square Nite Owl
- Punches - 1-3/4" Circle, Round Tab punch
- Stamp Set - Wicked Cool
- Ink - Basic Black
- Other - One Sweet Treat Cup, Black grosgrain ribbon, adhesive (we used Tombow)
Now ,that you have everything ready, let's get started. Fold your 3" x 6" card stock in half. Holding the DSP up to the front of the card (Do NOT adhere) punch a 1-3/4" circle through both pieces of paper. Make sure you have the DSP lined up where you want it so that the circles line up!
Next, put a thin line of glue on the back of the DSP around the edge of the circle. Lay it on top of the Sweet Treat cup. This glues the DSP and cup together. For this project you will NOT use the adhesive back on the cup.
If you are going to embellish this part of your card, now is the time to do it. We have added black grosgrain ribbon along the bottom edge. Of course, you can add stamped images, buttons, brads, etc.
Next we are going to create the "tabbed sliding door" that holds in the candy. Fold the tab piece in half and glue to the black 2" x 2-5/8" piece.
Add dimensionals on the back of the DSP in all four corners. Notice we laid the slider over the opening making sure that the dimensionals do NOT hinder the sliding door. You may need to trim the dimensionals.
Adhere this piece to the front of your card making sure to line up the punched circles.
All you need to do now is add your candy and decorate the inside if desired. We used the Wicked Cool stamp set lining up the words so that when the candy is gone and the sliding door is off you can read the words "have a Wicked Halloween" through the window.
There you have it! A fun, quick project great for any occasion!
We hope you have a wonderful weekend and be sure to stop by again.
