Briefcase for Dad

This small brief case is the perfect size for a gift card or business cards.  We have created this masculine look just in time for Father's Day.  But, it is equally adorable stamped, made with DSP or card stock, etc.  We will show you a couple of other looks.  These would be adorable gifts for down-line (or up-line) for convention, for hostesses, for gift cards, etc.

 

Below is a close-up of the back.  For the faux leather technique, we used an embossing template, a Versa Mark pad and clear embossing powder.  This holder uses the new Square Lattice embossing folder with Creamy Caramel card stock.  Then lightly run the Versa Mark pad over the "raised" part.  Sprinkle with clear embossing powder, heat and sponge everything with Creamy Caramel ink.  We used black grosgrain ribbon all the way around the holder as well as some "old" HodgePodge Hardware.  Tomorrow's post will have another sample and instructions for putting the holder together.  We will have the information where you can get the briefcase /gift card holders.

 

Altered Clothespin

Remember how I said I loved the direct-to paper-technique.  Well, combining direct-to-paper and the collage technique together is truly my favorite.  I love antiques and the primitive look so anything worn or tattered is right up my alley.  I started out with vanilla card stock and then using the direct-to-paper technique added color with Brocade Blue and Creamy Caramel pads. I stamped all over the paper using some of my favorite stamps inked with Stazon.  I cut the paper to fit my project, added ribbon, (which was sponged with Creamy Caramel) a few embellishments and there you have it!  The picture I've used in this project is of my dad and my grandson. Love it!

And The Winner is...................

Now, for those of you who don't know the answer to "what stamp set was used to create the popcorn in the popcorn box?"  The answer is - the top of the ice cream sundae in Goody-Goody Gumdrops.  It was stamped and each kernel was cut out and some were popped up.  Thanks for playing along.

King of the Grill

This apron pattern came from a class I took over 15 years ago in California at Stampa Barbara.  Of course, any apron pattern will work and there are many out there.  You can see how easy it is to change the look by changing the cardstock, DSP, adding embellishments or ribbon.  Remember all these ideas work for other occasions not just Father's Day.  This would also be a great bridal kitchen shower invitation. We've attached the template from the apron we posted earlier this month.  View this photo Enjoy!

 

Thinking of You Card

We are getting near the end of the masculine project/card month of June.  I made this card 2 or 3 years back for a card class.  It is amazing this Lovely as a Tree stamp set is still current.  This card will work for a man or change the colors a little and you will have a great fall card.  I'm not sure you can tell but the twill ribbon has been stamped with the small leaf from the set....very subtle.

 

Cowboy Hat

You know, I might actually miss the challenge June has created for me.  It definitely put me out of my comfort zone BUT it has actually pushed the creative juices.  I loved the little Red Hat nugget favor Susan shared.  Thank you so much for sharing how you made it.  Of course, this being "for men only" month, red didn't work.  Here is my masculine version.  I still used 22 circles to create the hat part and I used a skewer to help me roll/curl the brim.

 

Just for You Card

This card would be great for any guy, young, old, and what teenager doesn't wear jeans! I made this card using Bordering Blue card stock and the direct-to-paper technique (one of my favorites) to create the worn "dirty" kind of feel.  The belt was done in Chocolate Chip card stock and I used the Chocolate Chip marker to do the stitching.  The Oval All stamp set, oval scallop punch and large eyelets finished it off.

 

Wallet of Memories

We are going to keep the "for men only" theme going for the entire month of June.  We all still need ideas for birthdays, anniversaries, etc.  This cute trifold wallet came from a pattern found in a Card Creations several years ago.  Each "slot" creates a great place to store gift cards, extra pictures or fun little notes or IOUs.  The right third of the wallet actually uses a picture holder from a "real" wallet.  We found these were NOT very easy to find since most billfolds or wallets do not come with these anymore.  We ordered them online.  These would also look great with the faux leather look many are doing on the purses. (Finished size - 3"x4" closed, and 9"x4" open)

 

Bag of Popcorn Contest

Okay, talk about going back a long time.  This pattern was in my first SU convention booklet from 1999.  I took the concept of the flower pot card that everyone has been having fun with.  The popcorn kernels were all cut out and some were raised with dimensionals.  I drenched the kernels with butter - sponged with So Saffron.

They (SU) used the bag of popcorn on a card and used a cloud to make popcorn.  What that did early on was make me think about using other images to create what I needed.  So, we are offering our first contest and blog candy.  Please email us and give us your best guess as to which stamp/stamp set this popcorn came from and we will put all the right answers in a bowl for a drawing.  We will give you until June 25th.  This image is in the CURRENT catalog - not the new catalog.  Have fun!

The "Last" Shirt

I truly believe this will be the last man's shirt you will see from me for sometime....probably until next June:)  I had to try my hand at the twill tie that Amy had on her blog...her directions were great.  I had to add my own little twist and change the color of the twill.  I used the reinker and water for the blue tie and a sponge and ink pad for the brown tie.  The sponge and Ink pad were definitely faster and easier.
