Freebie Friday - A Fun Way to Recycle!

What a fun way to recycle your water bottles and use them for packaging!  Can you guess how we got all the goodies inside?  Can you guess how to get them out??

 

 Well, here go!  It's as simple as this...using an Exact-o knife, make a slit in the middle of the bottle.

 

Next, slide a pair of scissors in the slit and cut around the entire bottle - cutting the bottle in half.

 

Then, fill your bottle with your goodies.  We used Easter grass and eggs.

 

Next, seal the bottle back with clear packing tape.  Be sure to keep the bottle edges together straight.

 

Now it is time to decorate.  We cut 2 strips of patterned paper and scalloped one of them.  We glued them together.  These two strips are creating the belly band around the bottle.

 

 

 

Next, we stamped, cut out, and sponged a chocolate bunny.  We added a ribbon bow.

 

We decorated the lid by punching a circle from the patterned paper and added ribbon around the edge of the lid.
 

And, like we said, its as simple as that.  Notice, we did add a little extra Easter grass under our bunny.

 
Now, go and pull out all those empty water bottles and get to creating some fun projects.  Recycle, recycle, recycle!!  These make great projects for birthday party favors or how about a scouts' craft project!

Freebie Friday - A Patty's Day Treat

With St. Patrick's Day just around the corner, we thought we'd share a quick and easy candy bar wrap with you.  This little treat shows you again how to make those cute little medallions.  You can view that Freebie Friday tutorial here.

First, gather your supplies.  You will need one piece of 6x6 patterned paper, a Kit Kat candy bar (this one fits perfectly in the 6x6, however, you can modify your size of paper to fit any candy bar), a paper crimper, stamps, ribbon, whatever you need to embellish your special treat.  We used the "Cheers to You" from the Stampin' UP! set, Cheers To You. 

 

Next, using Sticky Strip or Scor-tape (we used Scor-tape in this example) along the bottom of your patterned paper.  Lay the candy bar in the center and grab your paper crimper.

 

Fold the paper around the candy bar creasing the sides around the candy.  Remove the backing off the adhesive tape and wrap the paper tightly around the candy bar and seal.

 

Add a small amount of adhesive (we used Tombow) along the inside of the open ends of the wrapper.  Seal well.

 

Next, you crimp both ends of your package.  Once you place the end in the crimper turn the handle until you reach the end of the candy bar.  Be careful to seal well but not to crush your candy bar! 

 

It should look like this.

 

Now, for the fun embellishments.  The possibilities are endless.  As mentioned earlier, we used another medallion.  This one was created using a 1 x 12 piece of patterned paper.  We stamped "cheers to you" in black ink on white card stock and punched it out, added a little sponging and glued it to the medallion. The layers are a 2x2 piece of Wild Wasabi and a 1-3/4 x 1-3/4 piece of white card stock.

 

 

There you go!  Quick, easy and not to mention a yummy CHOCOLATE treat!!

It's hard to believe that this is the last Freebie Friday for February!!  Where did the month go!

Today, we are going to share with you two examples we created for this tutorial.  One could be used as a sewing gift holder and one you could use for a coffee or tea packet/bag.

First is the sewing "gift" holder.  For this one we used the Sew Suite stamp set, Pear Pizzazz, Basic Black, and Whisper White card stock.  The dotted patterned paper is from Cosmo Cricket.  We tied the packet together with Old Olive Satin ribbon.  We created our own saying and added faux stitching!  We enclosed a small travel sewing kit.

Next is the coffee/tea bag gift holder.  We used the Tiny Teacup stamp, Springtime Vintage patterned paper, and Very Vanilla card stock.

Now, let's get started so you can create your own!

Gather your supplies.  You'll need card stock, patterned paper, scissors, glue, a scoring tool, ribbon and embellishments for the front of your card.

Cut a piece of card stock 3-1/2" x 9-3/4".  Score at 3-1/4" and 6-1/2".  Measure up 1" from the lower right corner and draw a line to the top of the second score line.  Cut this corner off.

 

Next, add Sticky Strip, or in this example, we used Scor-tape, along the right side and the bottom (of this section only).  See the photo below.

 

Remove the protective cover from your tape and fold this section over, adhering it to the middle section.  This forms the pocket for your "goodie".

 

For the front, cut one piece of patterned paper 3-3/8" x 3-1/8", and three pieces of card stock (for layers).  The first layer is 2-1/4" x 2-3/4"; the second is 2-1/8" x 2-5/8" and the third, which is the one you will stamp your image on, is 2" x 2-1/2".

 

Glue all your layers together and place on your project.  Remember, if you are going to stamp an image you will want to do that prior to gluing it on your project.  Our embellishments were cut out, punched and were added later.  Fold your card together, creasing well.  Punch a hole through the front and back at the same time creating the path for your ribbon.

 

You are now ready to decorate the front of your gift holder.  We used this cute "Tiny Teacup" from Stampin' Up.

Add your gift inside.  Run ribbon through the holes and tie!

Freebie Friday "Pop Top" Gift container

TGIF!  Happy Friday, everyone.  We had so much fun last Saturday, getting together with our "old" Stampin' Up! buddies for a little shoebox swap.  We'll be sure to share lots of ideas with you later, and tomorrow we meet up with one of our design team members for some creating time but first this oldie but goodie freebie idea.

 
Here are your step-by-step instructions to complete this tin can project,

First you are going to need to gather your supplies.  The most important, of course, is a "pop top" can in which you have opened from the bottom.  This takes a special can opener. Click on photo to see a larger image. 
This one was purchased at Bed, Bath, & Beyond and Pampered Chef carries this kind too.  For our project we used:

Supplies:

• Ice Cream Parlor buttons and ribbon from Sale-a-bration
• For All You Do and Punch Bunch stamp sets
• Old Olive, Whisper White and Melon  Mambo card stock
• Tombow glue and Sticky Strip tape
• 1-3/4" scallop circle punch

 

Next, cut your paper to fit whatever size of can you have chosen to use.  This one was a small can of fruit so the paper was cut at 3" x 8-1/2".

Stamp your images on the wrap.  We sponged clouds and stamped stems.

To make the grass, we cut a stripe of Old Olive 3/4" x 8-1/2".  We used scissors to make the strips for our grass.

Add Sticky Strip to the end and wrap around the can.

 

Add the grass around the bottom and then place your buttons on the stems.  We used embroidery floss to thread our buttons and glue dots to attach the buttons.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

To decorate the top rim of our can we used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch and Melon Mambo.

Layered the Ice Cream Parlor ribbon on this strip and attach to the top edge of the can.

 

Next, we created a tag.

Stamp the flowers from the Punch Bunch stamp set in Old Olive and Melon Mambo.  We cut out the flowers and layered them on the Old Olive set.

Punch the Old Olive stamped piece with the scallop circle punch and a scallop circle from Melon Mambo.

Stagger the Mambo scallop behind the stamped scallop.

Attach the ribbon piece to the top of the can using Tombow glue.

Tie the tag on with a little piece of ribbon, hemp or Baker's Twine.

You are now ready to fill your can with a gift or goodies.  Place your item or items inside the can.  Using Tombow, add a small thin layer around the edge of the bottom of the can.  Place it on the can and let dry.

That's it.  So easy and what a fun way to present someone with a gift.  You'll keep them guessing as to how in the world you got the gift in can.

Dumb Dumb Valentine?

Seriously....There is no such thing as a Dumb Dumb Valentine but there is such a thing as a "Dum Dum" Valentine. LOL  See below.......

 

Are you disappointed?  These are so cute, fun and so easy!!

 

We first started by cutting out a scallop heart using Rose Red card stock and the largest scallop die from Nestabilities.  We then layered a regular heart cut from a piece of patterned paper from the Sweet Stitched set.  The "Be My Valentine" banner is from the stamp, Be My Valentine.  It was also stamped on Rose Red card stock.  We punch a hole on both sides of the sucker stick with the Crop-a-Dile so that we could run the ribbon through and tie on the Dum Dum sucker.

Freebie Friday Heart Treats

This "sweet" little project is just so quick and easy you'll want to make a bunch!

 

 

Gather your supplies.  You will need SU! Full Heart punch, a 1-3/8" square punch, card stock, patterned paper, scissors, glue, ribbon and a heart-shaped chocolate.  Yum!

Punch 2 squares and 2 hearts.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Next, score your square pieces at 5/8" and 7/8".  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Crease well using your bone folder.  They should look something like this.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Next, glue these two pieces together forming the holder for your chocolate heart. (Keep in mind that this fits on the back of the heart.)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now you are ready to glue your punched hearts to the front and back of the holder.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It should look similar to this.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now punch a hole in both sides of the heart and run your ribbon through them.  The ribbon will go over the top of the chocolate heart to help hold it in.

Simply tie the ribbon or enhance your treat with a personalized tag or sweet little message.

Fall Ribbon Bundle

These colors perfectly compliment the Halloween paper and would be perfect for that special Halloween card or project. 

 

Here is a fun treat idea using some of the wrinkled Artichoke ribbon.  Notice the variegation on the ribbon.  That is what we love about this ribbon.....none of it is exactly the same.  We love the variety!  The six nuggets are in a cello bag that is attached to card stock.  You can change the colors and DSP and this will work for any holiday.  Notice that we said these colors work well for Halloween but we have actually used it geared towards Christmas.

 

 

Candy Bar Bingo!

Wow, can't believe it's Friday already...if you saw our post from last Friday, we introduced our "Just Bingo" template. 

So, here we have created another fun idea using the template.  This large candy bar is simply embellished and perfect for a co-worker, teacher, anyone who loves candy!  The candy bar was wrapped in a piece of Candy Cane Christmas Specialty DSP.  The ribbon is SU! 1/2" Blushing Bride Stitched-Poly Ribbon.

 

The bingo card is embellished for "FOR YOU".  This word phrase can be found in the stamp set, Fundamental Phrases.  Each letter was inked with a black marker and stamped individually so you could punch out each letter with the 1/2" circle punch.  The letters were stamped on Blushing Bride card stock.  The bingo card was also layered on a piece of Blushing Bride.

Halloween Combo - treats and a gift card!

Halloween is just around the corner so why not make some of these fun treat cards.  We used the Wicked Fun Specialty Designer Series Paper.  The little flocked bats worked well on this treat card.  The test tubes were purchased last year and we believe they were found on www.testtubesonline.com.  There are many sizes and so many uses for these. 

 

The inside shows you can include a gift card with your candy treat. Of course, a note pad would be nice, too.

 

For the second sample, we used Halloween paper from the Holiday Mini Catalog, Nite Owl.  The new Bitty Bat punch.  These bats were shaped for dimension.  We know many don't celebrate Halloween but we hope you see that you could even make this exact treat card (without the bats) and it could be used for a birthday or anything.  Much of the paper is versatile.

 

These are fun and easily adapted for the occasion you choose. The general directions for this treat card are:

• Score an 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" piece of card stock at - 3-1/2", 4-1/4", and 5".  Fold on the center score line and cut in about 3/4" and then another 3/4".  Do this from both ends.(See the picture below.)  The two "tabs" created from the cuts will be the two pieces that fold "out" and hold the test tube.
  Of course, the distance between the score lines and the size of cuts will depend on the size of your test tubes.

One More Quilted Paper Art Sample!

Actually, we did two of the same project BUT with two different color themes to show you how different you can make these look.  This would be an adorable Valentine's gift/favor.  We created a "cover" to go around the small sample box of chocolates.  It is the one that holds about four pieces of chocolate.   This sample uses only two patterns from the Play Date patterned paper. We used a flower brad from the Designer Brads - Flower found on page 187 in the main SU! catalog. 

 

 

Here is another sample using the same pattern but we used four colors and patterns from the same Play Date DSP.  In the center of this heart we used a Build-A-Brad.  Both chocolate samplers are tied with the 5/8" Whisper White Organza ribbon.

• DSP - Play Date
• Other - Whisper White 5/8" Organza ribbon, Build-a-Brad, Designer Brads - flower
