Cupcake Card Kits

We will be adding new items to our Etsy store over the next few weeks.  We have been accumulating so much stuff and just haven't had time to share it.   We have made two cupcake card kits. We are finally willing to let go of some of our favorite papers and cupcakes.

 

The card kits come with the following enough goodies to make at least 6 cards.  You will receive six 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" sheets of white card stock, six 4" x 5-1/4" patterned paper, six stamped and paper pieced cupcakes, 6 yards of ribbon (3 yards pink, 3 yards white grosgrain), buttons and six envelopes. 

Here are a couple of ideas we made using the contents you'll recieve in your kit.

Or, you could make several 3" x 3" note cards or even gift tags.

 
Whichever you chose, we're sure you will enjoy making your own creations. Each cupcake comes with an actual vintage button attached but we have added extra new buttons so you can change them out if you so desire.

Here is our last cupcake "remake" for September.  While these cupcakes are designed to be pin cushions, there is no reason you couldn't just make these for decorations or party favors.  Who wouldn't love to have this sitting by their place setting at a holiday, birthday, graduation, etc. party.  Any color theme works.

This fun cupcake was made with the following supplies:

• DSP - Candy Cane Christmas
• Other - white fleece, Cherry Cobbler vintage ribbon, acrylic circles, Crystal Effects, Real Red re-inker

 

For this cupcake, we embellished the white fleece with these non-SU flat-back acrylic "dots".  These were clear and we colored them with Crystal Effects and Real Red re-inker.  We love the polka dots!

Take 2 Tuesday - Christmas Cupcake Pin Cushion

 
Well, we did say it would be fun to have a cupcake for every holiday......this is our Christmas Cupcake pin cushion.  Supplies used:

• DSP - Jolly Holiday
• Other - Ivory fleece, Cherry Cobbler Holiday vintage ribbon, button and button twine

The "topper" on this cupcake was made with Cherry Cobbler ribbon from our upcoming Holiday Vintage sampler.  We embellished it with a button and button twine.  We kept it simple but elegant.....our favorite.  You can see how nice the pearl-topped pins look on the cupcake.

Take 2 Tuesday - Vintage Cupcake Tin

For September, we are featuring one of our favorite tutorials, "Cupcake Pin Cushion".

First up this month is this vintage cupcake pin cushion.  We used the following supplies:

• DSP - Newsprint
• Ink - Creamy Caramel (for sponging)
• Other - chocolate fleece, ivory felt, eyelet lace, vintage buttons, pins, button twine

 

We decorated the top of the cupcake with these felt "rolled flowers."  These were made just like the paper flowers found here.  Everything was sponged (including the felt flowers) to create that much loved vintage look.  We alternated the buttons between black and brown old vintage buttons.

Cupcake Gift Cardholder

This is the final week in April so our cupcake ideas are starting to wind down.  I'm sure that you will see more cupcakes sneak in here and there but it is time to move on to other things.  The Royal Blog Tour starts this Friday!  We are excited to be a part of this tour again.  Be sure to check out our projects and to leave a comment as we are having another drawing for blog candy!

This gift card holder is made with two 6x6 pieces of DSP.  Most of us have stacks of 6x6 DSP so this is a great use for it.  This idea was originally a card but we glued the edges together and created a slide out pocket for the gift card.

• Card Stock - Close to Cocoa, Whisper White
• DSP - Pretty in Pink, Close to Cocoa
• Stamp Set - Crazy for Cupcakes
• Ink - Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink
• Embellishments - Pretty in Pink ribbon, Dimensionals, Pretty in Pink eyelets, buttons

 

Cupcake Album

We found these chipboard cupcake albums at a local scrapbook store.  Of course, we fell in love with them and thought this was a great month to do one.  What a great gift for someone. 

Supplies used:

• Card Stock - Whisper White, Basic Black, Tempting Turquoise, Real Red
• DSP - Pink Flamingo
• Ink - Creamy Caramel
• Stamp set - Well Scripted, Cupcake Wheel, On a Pedestal
• Embellishments - buttons, ribbon, brads, XL Fancy Flower punch, circle punches, pop bottle cap, rhinestones, crimper

Keep It Simple Sweetie - PPA 39

Another great challenge from the gals at Pals Paper Arts.

There is beauty in simplicity, and they are highlighting that beauty in today's Pals Paper Arts KISS challenge.  The following are suggested guidelines for creating a KISS -able card:

• Clean, with lots of "white" space
• Simple Designs
• Minimum time to create
• Limited layers and embellishments

Cupcake Pin Cushion Tutorial

We had soooooo many requests for the instructions on how to make our cupcake pin cushions.  So, thank you for patiently waiting for us to get a tutorial written.  If you would like to order this, please use the Paypal button below.  For those of you who need a reminder, here is a picture of the cupcakes.

A "Happy Monday" Cupcake!

Do we have to have a reason for more cupcakes?  Here is a card made with the large cupcake from Simple Birthday Thanks.  I used the same kind of template that was created for some of our other projects like the birthday garland found here.   The cupcake slides in and out of the bottom section.

The supplies used:

• Card Stock -  Pretty in Pink, Whisper White and Barely Banana; Tea Party DSP
• Ink - Basic Black, Creamy Caramel (for sponging)
• Stamp sets - Simple Birthday Thanks and Crazy for Cupcakes (inside saying)
• Embellishments - Pretty in Pink grosgrain ribbon, button, hemp, swirled embossing folder

Finally, something that is actually a real cupcake - at least a recipe for a real one.  Wednesday I had a cupcake recipe class - good timing!  Here are three of the recipes from that class.  The first recipe is Glazed Lemon Cakes.  Here are a list of the supplies -
