Wow, it's been a very long time since I've had time to join the gals over at Pals Paper Arts for one of their fun challenges.  Below is the information about the challenge.  You can find all the details on their blog.

They have a celebrity guest artist joining their team this week, Maile Belles! She is an amazingly talented artist.  So why not hop on over and join Maile and the PPA Design Team as they showcase their styles using Margaret Moody’s sketch!

Simply Sketchy - PPA57

This week's sketch from Pals Paper Arts, looked like alot of fun so I decided since I needed a birthday card for tomorrow (hopefully, she doesn't see it before lunch) that I would combine the two.  I love the Play Date DSP and haven't had a chance to play with it.

Here are the supplies I used:

• Card stock - Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turquoise, So Saffron, Real Red, Whisper White, Old Olive
• DSP - Play Date
• Stamps - On Your Birthday
• Other - Chocolate Chip ribbon, Scallop Trim Border punch, tiny buttons (non-SU)

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge

Today is the first time I've played along with Karen Giron's Sunday Sketch Challenge and it was fun!!  You can read all about it here, or play along.

Today I used So Saffron card stock and the new Designer Series paper, Play Date, from Stampin' Up!

The ovals were created using Nestabilities and the So Saffron, Real Red and Chocolate Chip card stock are all from Stampin' Up!

The little stamp I used is from the stamp set, Cute by the Inch, also from Stampin' Up!

 The stamp was colored with Real Red, Old Olive and Chocolate Chip markers and then stamped on Very Vanilla card stock.

I stamped the flower again in Real Red, punched it out using the 1/2" circle punch, added a brad and then "popped" it up using a dimensional.

I've added a little bit of Real Red grosgrain ribbon to complete my card.

Pals Paper Arts - PPA 52 A Sketch Challenge

It's time to play along again with the gals over at Pals Paper Arts.  Here is what they have to say about the challenge this week!

And here is my card.

The card was made using Very Vanilla card stock and layered with the new "Love Letter" Designer Series Paper.

Don't you just love the new stamp set from Stampin' Up! called "Morning Cup." Oh yea, I LOVE my first cup of coffee during the early morning hours when all is quiet on the home front. I'm sure you will be seeing me use this set a lot more :)

The coffee pot is stamped with black ink on Cherry Cobbler card stock and cut out, then stamped again on the Love Letter DSP, cutting out only the middle section of the coffee pot.

The message "a morning without coffee...is like sleep" is stamped in black ink on Very Vanilla.  Everything is sponged!!

The matching coffeee cups are from the same set as the coffeee pot, "Morning Cup."  I first stamped the single cup on very vanilla and cut them out.  Then stamped it again on the DSP, cutting out just the centers of the cups and then gluing them to the vanilla card stock.  The saucers were trimmed off since I wanted to hang them on my "coffee rack."

Using Cherry Cobbler card stock, black brads for nails and the Scallop Trim border punch I created the coffee rack.

Pals Paper Art Picks & New Challenge

I'm so excited to have been chosen as one of the "picks" from last week's challenge on Pals Paper Arts. Thanks to all the wonderful talented ladies over there who give us all an opportunity to share our work!  Each week they announce the Artist Picks from the prior weekly challenge.  Winners receive a special badge to let everyone know they are a Pals Paper Arts Artist Pick...like the one on our sidebar!

I was pleased and inspired so I decided to play along today.  For this week, they have challenged us to use this wonderful color combination.

 

My card was created using Chocolate Chip, So Saffron and Very Vanilla card stock and patterned paper from October Afternoon.  The stamp I used is one of four that comes in the Stampin' Up! set, A Flower For All Seasons.

Nestabilities were used to cut all the scallop circles which were sponged with Creamy Carmel.  The watering can was colored using a blender pen and Basic Gray ink and I used Old Olive for the cute little frog. A Chocolate Chip bow was added as a finishing touch.  So there you have it!  Off to work I must go (I'd much rather stay home and play in my studio but I am grateful for my job!!). Pals Paper Arts - Fourth of July Inspiration

Extra! Extra!  Read all about it.....Let Freedom Ring, Sweet Land of LIberty, 3 Cheers for the Red, White & Blue!

The Pals Paper Arts challenge this week is a 4th of July inspiration as we celebrate our nation's birth. 

For my card, I used Kraft and Real Red card stock.  The words are from the jumbo wheel, Red, White, and Blue.  The DSP is called Newsprint and is one of our new paper packs coming out in the catalog TODAY!

The stars are punched from Real Red card stock and DSP.

I've added ribbon, brads, twine, sponging (of course :) and one of the fun paper flowers I've done before.  You can see these other examples here and here.

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge - Because I Care

I have wanted to play along with the gals hosting the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge for quite some time and when I saw the layout I took the plunge.  You can find all the details here.  

For my card, I used one of the new SU! catalog sets called "Because I Care." Isn't this hydrangea wonderful!!  The card is Whisper White, layered with Baja Breeze and the new DSP called Greenhouse Gala.

I've used Chocolate Chip, Baja Breeze, another piece of Greenhouse Gala DSP and Whisper White for the ovals.  The words are also from this set.

This photo shows a close of the new clear bitty buttons.  I stamped the small flower from the same set with black ink, colored and then punched them out using the flower punch from the Itty Bitty Button Shape set.  A perfect fit!

The ribbon is a piece of our new vintage ribbon that has been dyed in Baja Breeze.  More on that to come....

Paper Flowers & Crazy for Challenges

The challenge from the gals over at Crazy for Challenges was to make a card or project using any type or form of paper flowers.  They could be ones you purchased or made by hand. This is the card I submitted today. I chose to make a flower, which is one I shared last weekon the bicycle card.  The flower was made using DSP and a technique called "rolled paper" flowers and the tutorial can be found here on Split Coast Stampers.  

Supplies used:

• Card Stock - Very Vanilla and a new In-Color called Pear Pizazz from Stampin' Up
• Basket stamp is from PTI
• Ink - Black, Creamy Caramel
• Nestabilities, brads and markers for coloring.

   

Crazy for Sweet Sunday Challenges

Today I decided to give the Sweet Sunday Sketch a try.  You can find all the details for the challenge here. This is my card using the layout from the challege.

 
  Supplies include Very Vanilla, Old Olive and Tempting Turquoise card stock.  The new DSP from the summer mini called Island Oasis, the Good Neighbor stamp set, Tempting Turquoise grosgrain ribbon and a tag using the word "hello" from the stamp set Tiny Tags.

I stamped the houses on the DSP and cut them out.  The roofs and doors were all stamped in Old Olive ink and cut out and then layer on the houses.  The clouds were stamped with Tempting Turquoise, the trees in Brown Stazon, sponged in Old Olive and all were cut out. 

 
 

Herb Expressions & PPA42 Challenge

After traveling for work and playing catch up this last week, I actually had some time to stamp and decided to play along with the girls over at Pals Paper Arts. This week's challenge is a color using Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive and Real Red.

I grew up "going antiquing" after church on Sundays and in a home that was full of old treasures and family heirlooms.  I definitely inherited that love for antiques and the "hunt" for these wonderful keepsakes.  So even though Tempting Turquoise and Real Red are bright cheery colors I toned them down by giving my card an antiqued look using Creamy Caramel.  

The base of the card is Kraft, layered with Tempting Turquoise and some DSP from the Sweet Pea pack.  I also used some of the retired DSP from one of my favorite packs called Rockabilly.

I used the herb "Thyme," and stamped it in Old  Olive and used Itty Bitty backgrounds and some more sponging in Creamy Caramel to distress the card.  The tag is one that I had tea dyed (you'll see these in some of our vintage DIY kits).  The flowers were colored in a bit with the white gel pen. A little paper piercing, a little ribbon, a small red button with twine, a little more sponging and there you have it.

Notice the fabric, that's actually an old apron that Gayla and I picked up at the White Cloud Flea Market (up by my parents' home) a couple of weeks ago.  That was a fun day and it reminded me so much of all those types of outings with my parents and my grandma.  Make it a blessed day.
