Royal Blog Tour & Morning Cup

Welcome to the Royal Blog Tour on MeGa Stampin' Studio.  We are featuring the Stampin' Up! stamp set, Morning Cup.  We have also incorporated the coordinating wheel, Take a Sip.  We have created an ensemble of fun gifts or decor ideas that would be great for your kitchen, a gift for a girlfriend, etc. 

The first gift or decor idea is this 6" x 6" frame that we have embellished with bottle caps, Designer Series Paper, buttons and cut out coffee cups.  We printed a fun quote onto Very Vanilla card stock, layered with coordinating card stock.  Very fun and quite easy to coordinate with any favorite color scheme.

 

Next up is our set of four coasters.  These are made with the regular 4" square coasters, covered with Very Vanilla card stock, sponged and embellished with stamps from the Morning Cup stamp set.  We actually enlarged the stamps and ran our Designer Series Paper (DSP) through the printer so we could paper piece each stamp.

 

Coffee cozies are all the rage so we created one with felt.  We used the enlarged coffee cup as a pattern to cut felt cups and hearts.  The scallop trim was made with felt cut from the Stampin' Up! exclusive Big Shot die, Tasteful Trim.  Notice our cup is sitting on another coaster that was decorated with the original stamps, colored and sponged.

 

For our miniature tree (perfect for the kitchen or a desk), we created coffee-themed ornaments.  All the stamped images were stamped or layered on Very Vanilla card stock. Some were colored and some were paper pieced.  We covered these with acrylic pieces. We added small decorated tea-dyed tags.  Notice they are attached with mini clothes pins!

 

Last, we stamped directly on to a tea-dyed tea towel.   This could be done for a whole set of matching towels, napkins or we actually put one around the base of our tree as a tree skirt!  We did stamp on the towel with permanent ink.

Blog Tour Follow-Up!

All of our projects for the Royal Blog Tour use the following color combinations - Real Red, Summer Sun, Cameo Coral, Tempting Turquoise and Pink Flamingo DSP. 

This square round jar is decorated with a medallion flower on top.  There are also four scalloped layers created with the Nestabilities.  The nuggets inside have all been decorated with the featured DSP.  We have added bling to the "i's" on "things i love".  This jar (minus the nuggets) is part of our blog candy. 

Here is another close-up of the necklace and matching box.  The box is actually a jewelry box that we covered with DSP and added Tempting Turquoise grosgrain ribbon.  The flower is made with the XL Fancy Flower punch, vellum that has been textured with the Polka Dot embossing folder.  We cut out the shoe and layered the strap and the toe piece.  The shoe was covered with Crystal Effects and embellished with turquoise bling.

The necklace was created with two pieces of Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware.  We stamped the shoe with black Staz-On on DSP.  Then it was punched with the Designer Label punch.  This piece was glued in to one of the hardware pieces.  Another punched piece of DSP was glued into the second piece of hardware.  Tiny turquoise bling was added to the shoe.  Both pieces were covered with Crystal Effects - being careful to not run onto the hardware.   We let both pieces dry over night.  Then both pieces were glued together - back-to-back.  We further embellished with charms and bling. 

We created another set of card candy.  This set also uses the "platter" from On a Pedestal.  The turquoise platter uses just the top part.  It is two layers and covered in Crystal Effects.  It has been embellished with small pearls.  The small "bag" of chocolates is one we just made up.

Royal Blog Tour - "Things I Love" Treats

We are featuring projects made with the stamp set, "Things I Love".  It was not hard to come up with things we love, it was hard to limit it!!!  For this tour, we are focusing on - chocolate and shopping (and embellishments, of course)! 

This square round jar is filled with nuggets.  Probably not surprising for those of you who follow us regularly.  We LOVE projects with nuggets!  The lid is embellished with a medallion-style flower!

Here is a close-up of a few of the nuggets.  The plain white wrapping really stands out with the bright colors from the Pink Flamingo DSP.

  

What an adorable necklace (or charm).  This necklace is easily personalized for a special girlfriend (or yourself) by changing the stamp, color and/or embellishments.

The gift box has been designed to coordinate with this special necklace.  

Our last project is a sheet of card candy.  It is one of our new favorite things.  You will be seeing more and more of these showing up in our Etsy shop.  As we said earlier, this package of card candy covers two of our favorite things - chocolate and shopping.

Royal Blog Tour Winners

More Details for Projects from the Royal Blog Tour

As promised, here are more details and pictures from the Royal Blog tour projects.  They had asked us to keep the details and pictures to a minimum during the tour and provide more details later.  If you have any other questions, please feel free to email us.  Thank you so much for making the tour such a success!

Window:  The left pane, we layered the DSP on cardboard for more stability.  This was then attached to the back side of the glass, showing through, so we could still write directly on the glass.  We used two large eyelets - one on each side of the middle strip.  We purchased the wire basket from Target.  It was silver and we spray painted it black and screwed it directly to the window frame.

 

The center pane - We bought magnetic paint from Home Depot.  We rolled five layers of the paint directly to the glass pane.  Since we didn't want to leave it that color, dark charcoal, we covered it with coordinating DSP.    The magnets are from the die cut sheets in the Write Stuff DSP.  The flowers were glued to the magnets and we used glass marbles for the centers of each flower for dimension.  The "menu" board is a die cut attached to a coaster covered with DSP.  We covered the die cut with a laminate sheet so it would be reusable.  We punched holes down the side using the crop-a-dile.  We tied ribbons into each hole.  We also attached a large eyelet to the bottom right-hand corner.  You could tie a ribbon through this and attach a dry erase marker.  We had to create some of our own ribbon to coordinate with all the DSP colors - Ruby Red and Crushed Curry grosgrain - using white grosgrain and stamp pads.

The last pane of glass was removed and we spray painted a piece of masonite with Chalk Board paint (also purchased at Home Depot) and mounted it back in the same place the glass was originally.     The place setting  was created using the die cuts and hand cut silverware from our featured stamp set, "Compliments to the Chef."  The hot dog was stamped three times on white card stock and twice on Ruby Red card stock.  We cut out the red hot dogs and layered them on the white card stock - twice.  We sponged, a lot, using Soft Suede to create a toasted bun look and used the Crushed Curry marker for the mustard.  The buns are layered three times.

    

The chef, on the recipe, was made using DSP on the jacket and cuff and card stock on his hat and scarf.  We punched 1/8" circles from black card stock for his buttons and applied Crystal Effects for dimension.  Another die cut is used for the name of the recipe.  The recipe is displayed on a wooden holder.  We will be selling these on our site, unfinished.  You can then paint or stain to suit your taste.  Watch for the post later.

The layered gift jar:  We used jars left over from candles - washed very well - and layered the cookie ingredients.  We attached a tag with the directions for the user.  We, of course, cut out another spoon for the tag and added a large eyelet to the top left corner.  We attached the tag to the jar with lots of coordinating ribbon.  This is a great holiday gift idea for the neighbors, teachers, babysitters, etc.

Here is the recipe for the Cranberry Hootcreeks that are layered in the jar:

Cranberry Hootycreeks Mix

1/2 c. plus 2 tbsp. flour

1/2 c. old-fashioned oats

1/2 c. flour

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

1/3 c. brown sugar

1/3 c. sugar

1/2 c. dried cranberries

1/2 c. white chocolate chips

1/2 c. chopped pecans

Layer the ingredients in the order given into a wide mouth one quart jar.  Pack each layer into place before adding the next ingredient.  Attach a gift tag with the mixing and baking ingredients.

Tag:

1 jar Cranberry Hootycreeks Mix

1/2 c. butter, softened

1 egg

1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  In a large bowl, cream butter, egg and vanilla.  Add the Cranberry Hootycreeks Mix and mix together by hand until it is well blended.  Drop by heaping tablespoons onto a greased cookie sheet.  Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges start to brown.  Transfer to wire racks to cool.

Finally, we stamped on the bottom of the window,the border stamp from "Compliments to the Chef" using black Stazon.

Royal Blog Tour

We are so excited to be a part of the Royal Blog Tour.  Below are some samples we designed around the new Stampin Up! set "Compliments to the Chef" and the new specialty DSP, The Write Stuff. Please be sure to post a comment as we will be drawing for blog candy.  We  usually post six days a week, so check back as we always work hard to come up with ideas that will inspire you.

We've created the following projects using an old window as our project pallet.  Using the old window, we created a fun message board for the kitchen along with a  layered gift jar and tag, a 6x6 recipe on a wooden holder (which will be for sale later and we will be giving one away!!!) 

We have provided a few details by each picture but will post more in-depth details, for those of you who love them, later this week. 

 

Starting with the first pane on the left, we left the glass (sorry for the glare) in so this could be used to write on with dry erase markers.  All of the paper is attached on the backside.  The fork is from the Decor Elements "Eat." One sample was done using black, the other with white.   We attached the basket with screws to hold the markers, pens, chalk, etc. On one we added ribbons for accents and on the other we used the chef.  

The chef from Voila, has been stamped with the DSP several times to create lots of fun layers for added dimension. The base was stamped on chipboard to give him more stability.  We glued a magnet to the back so he could be attached to the metal basket or used on the center board as another magnet.

The middle pane was painted with magnetic paint  directly on the glass, creating a magnetic surface.  We covered this paint with Soft Suede DSP and added matching ribbon.  We applied the "eat" (remaining piece from the fork) to this section.  We used die cuts from the Write Stuff DSP to create magnets - flowers and "menu" board.  Again, here are samples showing both the black and white Decor Elements along with other accents like stamped and cut out silverware used as a border across the top of the center panel . The black "EAT" was added to the magnetic center section of the window while the white "EAT" was added to the chalkboard section.

On the third pane, we covered the glass with chalkboard paint to use for messages or as a menu board.  The grocery list pad was created from a memo pad and The Write Stuff DSP.  We embellished with the trio flower punch.  The black clothes pin was glued directly to the window to hold the pad.  

At the bottom of the chalk board, our place setting was created using more die cuts from the DSP and the silverware from "Compliments to the Chef" and the hot dog, also many layers, is from the Voila to Go set.

  

The 6x6 recipe is made using the chef from Viola and the silverware from the "Compliments to the Chef" stamp set.  The papers are Soft Suede, Ruby Red, Old Olive and Crushed Curry card stock.  The silverware was stamped and then cut out.  Once again, we added some layers to the chef.  We also used another die cut from the DSP.  This recipe is displayed on a wooden stand that we will be offering later this week BUT we will be giving one away.  Please leave comments!!!!

The layered gift jar makes a great gift for the holidays for neighbors, teachers, etc.  We embellished the tag with a large eyelet, ribbon and another cut out spoon.  We will post the recipe for the layered Cranberry Hootycreeks on our blog after the tour.
