Another Two Pocket Folder Idea!

Here we have made another sample of our two pocket folder, you can find it here, which has been embellished with a library pocket. 

The "To Do List" list fits in the pocket and creates a fun embellishment for the front of this folder.

These next ideas are ones we shared earlier with you that also used the library pocket as an embellishment.  The little bag is an idea we also shared and you can find step-by-step instructions here.

You can change the embellishment on the front of these bags and change the whole look.  You could also fill these pockets with other goodies!

More Double Pocket "Goodie" Bags

Last Saturday we shared a FREE Tutorial with step-by-step instructions on how to create this great project.  Here are just a couple more fun ideas for you to try!

First up - cocoa anyone?  This goodie bag is the perfect size for a cocoa packet, marshmallows, and even a candy cane if you would love to create a snowman soup gift tote!  We used the Jolly Holiday patterned paper and the 1-1/4" striped grosgrain ribbon for the handles.  We did add a small pocket to the outside and added a cocoa bingo card.  This bingo card will be available SOON!

 
And here is a sample using the patterned paper from the Holiday Mini catalog, Deck the Halls.  This double pocket bag has Apple Cider packets so we used the "cider" bingo card from the Paper Fashions Fall Bingo collection.

Apple Cider "Goodie" Bag & Free Tutorial

Today we want to share with you this quick and easy gift bag!

 
Again, we have used one of our wonderful Paper Fashions' Fall Bingo cards to embellish this oh-so-cute project!

First, score your 12 x 12 piece of card stock or DSP(we used Autumn Spice) starting at the left, 3/4", 5-1/2", 6", 6-1/2" and finally at 11-1/4".

 
Next, turn your card stock the other direction and score at 3" and 7-1/2".

 

Now you are ready to fold you paper on the score lines.  First, crease all of your lines really well using a bone folder.  Then fold the two sides (this would be the 3/4" score lines) in and glue them down.

 

Next, fold the larger side down and seal just the very corner.  This will form the pockets.

 

Next, fold the shorter side up and glue it down.

 
Next you create the valley and mountain folds with the three score lines; this forms the bottom of the bag.

 
Fold the sides up and glue the two pockets together, just in the very middle being careful not to glue your pockets shut.

 
There you have it.  Quick, simple and cute!!  We punched holes in the outside edge and ran ribbon through them for our handles.  Embellish the front (and the back if you'd like) and you have a cute double pocket bag just ready to fill!

Take 2 Tuesday - "Fall" Gift Tote

 
 
This month we will be sharing four more samples using our Glamorous Gift Tote tutorial.  We first featured this back in May of 2009 and have been ready to show you more ways to use this versatile tote.  You can make it for ANY occasion or holiday.  We believe you will be quite surprised at how different each sample will be this month. 

Today's tote is seasonal - fall.  It doesn't matter if this is for a birthday, thank you gift, or National Boss Day (October 16th), this tote will be the perfect way to present  your gift. 

 

The supplies used to create this tote are:

• Card stock - Early Espresso, More Mustard
• Specialty DSP - Autumn Spice from the Holiday Mini catalog
• Other - old vintage brown buttons, braided handles

The front and back of this tote are made with the Autumn Spice DSP and the sides are cut from Early Espresso.  Since the paper doesn't need much embellishing, we kept it simple.  We added brown vintage buttons found at an estate sale.  The handles are actually from a child's braided leather belt.  We cut the belt in half to form our to handles.  The original pattern comes with a pattern for paper handles but as you can see, it is so much fun to find other things to use.

Backpacks

Happy Friday, everyone!  Today we are sharing a couple of ideas for the small backpack that has been around awhile.  You can find the pattern here.   One is a patriotic quilt theme and the other is masculine - just in time for Father's Day.

The first backpack is made with Real Red and Night of Navy 1" squares.  They have been glued to a Kraft-based backpack.  Everything has been sponged.  White "stitches" were created with a white gel pen...of course, you could get out the sewing machine.  The chipboard star was covered with Whisper White card stock and sponged with Creamy Caramel.  The backpack and pocket have velcro fasteners.  The back straps were made with Real Red grosgrain ribbon.

The second backpack is made with Always Artichoke card stock and accented with some retired DSP, very masculine looking.  It has been sponged with Always Artichoke and Creamy Caramel.  This back pack uses the cotton twill for the back straps as well as an accent on the front flap.  The compass embellishment is from the Sentimental Journey stamp set, which can be found in the Summer Mini catalog.

Here is a look at the back of the back pack so you can see the straps.  If you haven't made one of these in a while or have never tried one, now is a great time to play around with it.

Big Shot Wednesday - Week #2 Perfect Setting

We know we have already shared an apron idea but we were on such a roll and loving the whole apron thing that this little gift bag was just too cute to not share as well.  The apron on this gift bag is removable.  It holds a gift card but you could just insert a gift tag.  Notice the collar around the top of the "dress" uses the other piece on the die.

Here is a close-up of the apron showing some of the detail and embellishments - pearls.  They match the pearl buttons going down the dress front.  The pink bag is just a regular shaped bag that we used a punch to shape the arm holes and the neckline.

 

Here is a close-up of the back so you can see we truly attached the apron by tying it around the bag.

We PROMISE that the next two weeks have nothing to do with aprons.  They are completely different ideas for using this die, Perfect Setting.  Supplies used:

• Card Stock - Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery
• DSP - Pawsitively Prints
• Other - Flat back pearls, Whisper White Organza Ribbon, Perfect Setting Die, Wide Oval punch, pink curly paper

 
 

Cheers to You

This little treat was obviously designed for St. Patrick's Day but could be altered for any occasion.  We first saw and fell in love with these treat bags on Becky Robert's site.  They are 1" x 8" adhesive-topped cellophane bags.  We sorted out the green M & M's and stacked them in the bag.  The topper was made with the beer mug from Cheers To You.  The mug is colored with a Green Galore marker, cut out and covered with Crystal Effects.  We used Liquid Applique to create the foam on top.  The mug is layered on Whisper White card stock that has been stamped with one of the Itty Bitty Background stamps.  Then layered on Green Galore and Basic Black and embellished with two black eyelets. 

Big Shot Wednesday - Week #1 Bag w/Scallops

This month we are featuring the Bag w/Scallops die.

Is this not the cutest thing!!  It's even better in real life.  We know it's a little hard to see, but trust us, it makes the cutest vase for flowers!!  We loved the way the mini milk carton turned out using acetate so we thought why not try it with this die.  You are probably thinking that we forgot what die we were using this month.  That this doesn't look like the bag w/scallops.  Look closer.  We just used the two side pieces from the die.  While we were brain storming and trying to design all our ideas for the month, we just happened to hold these two pieces up at the right angle and there it was!

The vase is put together with sticky strip on the two scored sides and then adhered to a card stock scallop circle.  Another scallop circle was punched out of matching DSP, cut in half and adhered over the acetate - one on each side to cover the base and give it a finished look.

The vase is filled with clear "pebbles" so as to not take away from the acetate vase.  We created flowers with the Stampin' Up! exclusive die, Blossom Party.  We added buttons and attached wire stems.  The flowers were textured with the polka dot embossing folder.  The card stock and DSP is Bermuda Bay.

We included the picture using card stock, so you could get a better visual of what the vase looks like.

 

Christmas Ornament Gift Bag

These ornament gift bags were made at club last night.  These two samples show one done with Real Red card stock (embossed with silver snowflakes) and the other with Holiday Lounge DSP.  The two ornament shapes are adhered to a small red sack found at the local craft store.  The bag size is 3-1/2" x 2" x 6-3/4."  I trimmed the bags down to 4-3/4" so that it was completely hidden behind the ornament. 

Notice that each bag has a different "top."  The red bag uses a piece of card stock 1-1/4" x 3", fold it in half and attach.  This is simple and quick.

You could make cute tags, embellish with rhinestones, buttons, chipboard, etc.  These can be as simple or fancy as you desire.  Don't forget to stamp your tissue paper even though mine is white.

 

 

 
 
 

Halloween Lunch Bags

Here is a fun project to use up all those brown lunch bags you have leftover from other projects.  These have been around for awhile and there are several ways to make these, but we have provided the measurements for this particular one.  This uses a standard brown lunch bag.  You may have to alter the measurements for a different bag. 

We have used Basic Black card stock and Cast-a-Spell DSP.  This bag has two pieces of ribbon, black and pumpkin, for the handle but have fun finding other handles - pipe cleaners, wire with beads, etc.

 

Here are the three main pieces used to make this project.  The back cover with flap measures 5-1/2" x 6-1/4", scored at 2".  The front card stock piece measures 4-1/4" x 5-1/2".  The lunch bag is cut down to 4-1/8" in height.  As you can see, this one uses velcro as the closure.
