Vintage Heart Jello Molds

Many of you have asked about the vintage tins you often see in our photos.  They are so fun to use and make wonderful props.  If you'd like to have some of these wonderful old vintage jello tins; you can see more here and here.

 

We love using these for all sorts of things.  Here we have used them to hold buttons, brads, doodads, etc. for our Valentine Inspiration station.

Heart to Heart card...

We love the simplicity of this pink, black and white heart card.  The eight pink hearts are made using some of the new Specialty Designer Series paper called Love Impressions found in the new Occasions Mini catalog and the Heart to Heart punch.  Each heart has been popped up with Dimensionals.

 

The pink border was punched with the Pinking Hearts border punch and layered on a Basic Black card stock strip.  The "heart to heart" phrase is from the I {love} Love jumbo wheel.

 

Supplies used are:

• card stock - Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Basic Black
• patterned paper - Love Impressions
• Punches - Heart to Heart and Pinking Hearts Border punch

12 x 12 Holiday Lounge Album "Remake"

The tutorial used for this project is called Holiday Lounge Photo album but only because at the time that's the paper we used.  The photos of this project will give you a better idea of how fun and versatile this album can be with using just two 12x12 sheets of designer series paper for the actual album covers.

This was created by Melissa for her grandson, Jett's, first birthday party. The first picture shows you how the album looks open, displaying the four tabbed pages that pull out for more photos.

 

Next, are the first two pages.  Melissa took the invitation her daughter had made for the party and placed it on the inside of the first page.  Page 2 also has one of the embellishments that was attached to the invitation.

• Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight and Certainly Celery card stock
• Retired DSP
• Party Hearty and Cute & Curly (retired) stamp sets

For this album, the binding was altered by using the jumbo silver brads and adhering the album front and back together with sticky strip.

Freebie Friday Idea - Easy Medallions for Embellishments

We decided to add Freebie Friday to our 2011 curriculum.  We get many questions asking for a little more detail as to how we did some of the projects on our blog.  Even though most of these things can be found on many other sites, we decided to add them to our site for easy access.  We are NOT claiming these as our original ideas; just making them available for faster reference.  We will feature instructions for making embellishments, projects, techniques...a great variety of things will be shown here. 

This week, we are showcasing this great embellishment that can be found just about everywhere these days AND we have used it MANY times on our projects.  So, we thought it would be fun to share with you the quick, easy steps to create these medallions or sometimes called accordion flowers.

 
First, gather your supplies.  You can use patterned paper or card stock.  Patterned paper is somewhat easier to work with and that is what we used for our example.   Cut a strip of paper for your medallion that is 12" long.  The width can be any size; it just depends on how large you want your medallion to be.  The example below is 1-1/2" x 12".

 

Once you determine the size, use your scoring tool and score every 1/4" from one end to the other.

Next, fold back and forth creating the mountains and valleys or a long pleated strip.  Add sticky strip to one end.  Next, punch two circles of card stock, one for the front and one for the back. 

 

Secure the ends of the pleated strip together creating a circle.

 
Place a small amount of hot glue on one circle and adhere to the center of the flattened, pleated strip.  Add hot glue to the second card stock circle and place it in the center on the opposite side.  We found hot glue works the best but some like to use the large 3-D glue dots.

Cupcake Card Kits

We will be adding new items to our Etsy store over the next few weeks.  We have been accumulating so much stuff and just haven't had time to share it.   We have made two cupcake card kits. We are finally willing to let go of some of our favorite papers and cupcakes.

 

The card kits come with the following enough goodies to make at least 6 cards.  You will receive six 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" sheets of white card stock, six 4" x 5-1/4" patterned paper, six stamped and paper pieced cupcakes, 6 yards of ribbon (3 yards pink, 3 yards white grosgrain), buttons and six envelopes. 

Here are a couple of ideas we made using the contents you'll recieve in your kit.

Or, you could make several 3" x 3" note cards or even gift tags.

 
Whichever you chose, we're sure you will enjoy making your own creations. Each cupcake comes with an actual vintage button attached but we have added extra new buttons so you can change them out if you so desire.
