Take 2 Tuesday - Happy "Holly"-days!!

This is our last August Take 2 Tuesday featuring the Altoid tin .   Be sure to join us in September for a new featured tutorial.

The holidays will be upon us before we know it so we are celebrating Christmas in July....well August.  This tin features some non-SU holly patterned paper and some wonderful musical notes paper which is so "IN" right now.

The top is decorated with a stamped image from the new stamp set, Perfect Punches!  It was stamped twice; once in Real Red and once in Basic Black ink. We then used the 1-3/4" Scallop circle and 1-3/8" circle punches.

The tin has been covered with more of the coordinating papers, a border and embellished with ribbon, and a button that has been tied with red and white baker's twine.

We've included extra goodies..... buttons, brads, extra ribbon and paper.

Homemade & To Die For

I wasn't able to go to convention this year, but I did get to help my good friend and fellow demonstrator, Linda, make cards for her swap.  This is one of the cards I designed using the new stamp set, Homemade.  Yep, couldn't resist another cupcake!  I have a sign that hangs in my office that says "I can resist everything except temptation".  :)

Supplies for this card include:

• Stamp - Homemade 
• Card Stock - Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla 
• Ink - Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, So Saffron 
• Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder
• Extra Large Scallop and 1-3/4 inch punches
• Paper Piercer, ribbon and Crystal Effects

The embossing folder was used to create texture on both the Cherry Cobbler and the Early Espresso card stock.

The "homemade" was stamped, punched and pop up using dimensionals.

Crystal Effects was added to the tops of the cupcakes for an additional accent.

3x3 Card Holder

This is another project we did at our demonstrator shoebox swap.  It was designed by April Schoenberg.  The original idea came from a swap received from this year's Stampin' Up! convention.  This card holder is made with Stampin' Up's small open-ended envelopes which also hold our 3x6 cards.

Supplies used:

• Card Stock - Whisper White, Basic Black, Crumb Cake(Kraft)
• Stamps - Punched Posies (Hostess Set available until August 31st)
• Other - Kraft Taffeta ribbon (retired), 1-3/4" and 2-3/8" Scallop Circle punches, brads, flat-back pearls, dimensionals, paper-piercing tool, 1-1/4" circle punch

 
We made three 3x3 cards with envelopes for our holder. 

The basic instructions are:

Seal the envelope and trim off the very top edge of the envelope.  Fold in half.  Punch the 1-1/4" circle on each side half way down.  This makes it easier to "get to" whatever you include in your holder.  Of course, you can decorate these note cards however you choose.  If you have any questions, let us know.

Simply Sketchy - PPA57

This week's sketch from Pals Paper Arts, looked like alot of fun so I decided since I needed a birthday card for tomorrow (hopefully, she doesn't see it before lunch) that I would combine the two.  I love the Play Date DSP and haven't had a chance to play with it.

Here are the supplies I used:

• Card stock - Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turquoise, So Saffron, Real Red, Whisper White, Old Olive
• DSP - Play Date
• Stamps - On Your Birthday
• Other - Chocolate Chip ribbon, Scallop Trim Border punch, tiny buttons (non-SU)

One More Watermelon Idea!!!!

These triangle boxes have been made many times and many ways.  We thought we needed one more summer idea before everything turns to fall and upcoming holidays.

We made these triangle boxes last year for Halloween.  You can see our candy corn example here .

Supplies used:

• Card Stock - Glorious Green (retired), Basic Black
• DSP - Real Red
• Other - Black twine, Big Bold Cupcake die (for watermelon seeds)

Take 2 Tuesday - Sugar and Spice......

Last week we featured our little boy and this week it is all about the girls!!!  This is definitely a week of "precious and pink."

This adorable DSP makes the softest looking project.  The small crocheted flower is such a dainty touch. It perfectly compliments our "beary" special girl.  Take a peak inside.....she is such a doll.

No details were spared for our little girl.  Some of the details may be hard to see but her entire wardrobe has been paper pieced.  Her dress and the flower in her hair are Pink Pirouette DSP; even her white collar has been cut out separately.  She has on black patent leather shoes embellished with a tiny rhinestone.  Her flower has a tiny rhinestone as well.  It might be hard to see but but we're telling you, she has it all.  She has been stamped, cut out and dressed up!

You will receive extra DSP, punched card stock flowers that fit the included itty bitty clear buttons, ribbon and one of the hand-crocheted flowers Gayla made.  The tin comes with the inside pages already cut, scored and decorated with matching DSP.

Spinach Dip Recipe

As you can tell, for my August recipe class, I shared all my favorite or most requested dip recipes that I use throughout the year.  Here is another fantastic dip recipe...one many of you probably already have.

The supplies used:

• Card Stock - Glorious Green (retired), Real Red, Whisper White
• DSP - Real Red
• Ink - Basic Black and Glorious Green (sponging)
• Stamps - Itty Bitty Background (retired)
• Others - ribbon, 1-1/2" and 1-1/4" circle punches, Scallop Trim Border punch, Jumbo Eyelets, Big Bold Cupcake die (to make the watermelon seeds)

"Christmas Hostess" All Occasions Double Gift Box

We all know that the holiday parties will be here before we are ready.  Start now  by making these double gift boxes for a hostess thank you.  Wait until you see what we filled our box with.  But first, here is a list of supplies used:

• Card Stock - Very Vanilla
• DSP - Jolly Holiday
• Stamps - Sincere Salutations
• Ink - Cherry Cobbler
• Other - vintage ribbon (from our soon-to-be released Holiday collection, Designer Label Large, red brads, sticky strip, Styled Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware, small flat magnet (for the closure)

We put sticky strip along the inside bottom edge of the flap to hold our ribbon as we pleated it.  Very fun look.  This box is held closed with a small flat magnet.  We learned to attach the hardware FIRST before attaching the magnet.  The magnet wants pull and move the hardware around making it hard to keep in the spot of choice.

 
We have included several "goodies" to create personalized place cards which can be used at the holiday table.  The recipient can use the handmade items to create any style they choose.  We have shown one idea below. 

 
The top compartment holds four (or more) Very Vanilla card stock place cards.  The size of the folded place card is 2" x 3-1/4".  In the bottom compartment we put in the hand-dyed crocheted flowers, half-back pearls and some of our upcoming Old Olive Holiday vintage ribbon.

 
As you can see, we just hand wrote the names on the cards but of course, you could use your computer and printer which would give you a large variety of fonts to choose from.

Envelope Box

Here is another project we did at the demonstrator shoebox swap.  This envelope style box was made using the directions we found on Shelley's site here.

We used the following supplies:

• Card Stock - Pear Pizzazz, Real Red
• DSP - Build-a-Bear Workshop Pawsitively Prints II
• Other - Real Red grosgrain ribbon, Tempting Turquoise brad, Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch, 1/8" hole punch, sticky pages

 
The tiny flower is made using the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch and the sticky pages.  Of course, you can use velcro to close these boxes but we punched a set of holes and threaded the ribbon through.  We filled ours with small M&M bags.....start thinking Halloween!  Adjust the size of this box and you can fill with cute 3x3 cards or tags......what a great gift idea for Christmas or birthdays!
