Just in time for summer - our berry boxes. We both love these berry boxes as we had grandmas who were a big influence in our lives and they used them. You don't see the old-fashioned wood boxes around much, they are usually plastic and green, so we thought we would create our own. We've shown some "real" ones that Gayla's dad gave us! Aren't they wonderful!! Here we have used them to display a small plant and as a place to store some of our old vintage thread spools. Love 'em!
In this tutorial you will receive the pattern and instructions for two sizes of berry boxes.
The large box is about 3" tall and the small box is about 1-3/4" tall. We show two ideas in the tutorial and we have 3-4 more ideas we will be sharing on our blog over the next week or two.
For the large box we went with a great summer theme - s'mores! We filled this box with s'more Goldfish. If you haven't seen them, they are very fun. The bag comes with three flavors of fish - graham cracker, chocolate and marshmallow. The bear from Under the Stars is still a favorite. He was stamped on Kraft and Chocolate Chip(belly). Our s'mores were stamped on Whisper White, colored in with Creamy Caramel and Chocolate Chip ink. The marshmallows were "fluffed" with Liquid Applique. What a great gift for a Girl Scout Leader or a Girl Scout/Brownie project.
Notice that our small berry box is filled with strawberries. We found this on idea and instructions on Julie's site here . She very kindly allowed us to share this with you. Her instructions show paper strawberries. We made ours the same way accept we used fabric and stuffed them with batting. Thanks, Julie!
