Big Shot Wednesday - Week #5 Bag w/Scallops

Wow, this month was quite a challenge for us - using this die differently every week but, we think we came up with some cool projects. They were definitely out-of-the-box thinking!

This little felted wool purse was made by folding the wool piece in half and laying it on the die just shy of the cutting line of the die. This allows you to double the size without having to sew two together.  Next, we cut three small scallops from the Scallop Circle #2, for our flowers - two from black felted wool and one from the same pink felted wool.

This  "clutch" purse can be used for a variety of things -  from carrying cash, your driver's license, or credit cards; to carrying your lipstick to church on Easter Sunday.   

Here you can see how we stitched the sides together using a blanket stitch and DMC floss.  The flowers were sewn together in the center only.  The button in the center is actually a vintage button from our collection found at estate sales.

You could easily add a handle to this purse.  You could also use this as a gift card holder - a gift and gift card in one!  And finally, what little girl wouldn't love this for her very own!

Last Minute Easter Cards

I know; I know.  Nothing like waiting until the last minute.  So, on Saturday, I was finishing up my Easter cards to send to all our grandkids and I remembered this very cute sheep box that I saw here,  by Lynn Pratt.  So instead of making a box I simply created a card using the scallop circle die from Stampin' Up!  To create the card, I used the following:

 

• Whisper White and Basic Black card stock
• Scallop Circle Die
• Small, Large, Scallop and Wide Oval Punches
• Word Window Punch
• Dimensionals
• Black Chunky Glitter 
• Googlie Eyes
• Basic Grey Ink & Sponge
• Embossing Folder

To create the card, fold your card stock in half and lay it on the die with 3 of the scallops showing. This creates the top fold. I then cut two more circles and ran them through the Big Shot in the embossing folder.  These were placed on the front and back of the card. This gives your card a more finished look all the way around.I sponged the edges and tops of the embossing with Basic Grey ink.  I glued his ears on, added some "bling" and then finished his face.  His legs were glued on before adding the scallop circle to the back of the card. Dimensionals were used to attached his head to his body.  Too fun and too cute!  Thanks Lynn for the inspiration!

Another PPA35 Challenge - Round Top Box

See, didn't I say that Gayla and I would have to play along again this week with the gals over at Pals Paper Arts!  We created this fun project using the round top box pattern.  We can't find where we originally found the pattern so we've included it here. View this photo   We have adhered two of the boxes together - back to back.  Of course, it is great as a single box, too.

Supplies used -

• Card Stock - Taken with Teal, Real Red, Whisper White
• DSP - Sweet Pea Paper Stack
• Ink - Taken with Teal
• Stamps - Hello Again
• Other - Ribbon, XL Fancy Flower punch, large oval punch, Polka Dot Embossing folder, 3/4" circle punch

This is a great box/basket that can be used for MANY things - Easter, Mother's Day, graduation, Christmas, Halloween, birthdays, baby showers......the possibilities are endless.

PPA35 - Anything But A Card - Scallop Envelope Box

We just had to play along this week with Pals Paper Arts Weekly Challenge.  You all know how much we LOVE our 3D projects.  You may remember seeing this idea last year on our blog when we created a few things for Easter.  This box, made with two Stampin' Up! exclusive Scallop Envelopes, also holds two Ghiradelli squares.  This time it was used to hold a post-it note pad.  Notice the color-coordinating butterfly stamped on the memo pad. 

Supplies used:

• Card Stock - So Saffron and Pretty in Pink
• DSP - Sweet Pea Paper Stack
• Ink - So Saffron and Pretty in Pink 
• Other - Polka Dot Embossing folder, Build-a-Brad acrylic bubble, ribbon

Mini Long Basket

This little basket would make a great treat at each place setting on the Easter table.  They are much smaller than the picture makes them look.  The basket without the handle is only 1-1/4" tall and 4" wide at the top - the widest part. 

Here is the link for this mini basket template.  There are two pieces - the basket and the liner. 

The supplies we used:

• card stock - Chocolate Chip
• DSP - Sweet Pea paper stack
• other - Scallop Trim Border punch, Boho Blossoms punch, brad

The small flower is made by punching three of the largest flowers from the Boho Blossoms punch.  They have all been scrunched and held together with a brad in the middle.

Pals Paper Arts Challenge

Big Shot Wednesday - Week #4 Bag w/Scallops

Talk about thinking outside the box...this mini stair step card (or tag) was created with just the large scallop piece from the die.  This could have a hole punched in the top and hung from a gift bag or package. 

The card is scored (starting from the scalloped end) at 3-3/4", 5-1/4", 6-3/4" and 8-1/4".  And, yes, you will have a small leftover piece.  We just cut it off.  You could, however, adjust your score lines to incorporate this last little piece.   

Supplies used:

• card stock - Whisper White, Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Real Red
• ink - Brocade Blue, Basic Black, Certainly Celery
• stamp set - All Holidays
• other - Trio Flower punch, 1/4" circle punch, small and large oval punches, Crystal Effects, wire

The "grass" is taller than the steps and is made by small snips close together, for our grass.  Each flower is made with two flowers adhered together with a piece of wire in between.  The centers have a dollop of Crystal Effects for dimension.

Herb Expressions card - PPA34 Challenge

Here is my card for this week's PPA34 Sketch Challenge.  I'm late in the week but I love this layout.  This card uses the following supplies:

• card stock - Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, and Mellow Moss
• DSP - Sweet Pea Paper Stack
• stamp set - Herb Expressions
