Big Shot Wednesday Week #5

Week #5 - Flower Folds

What better way to end September than with the last of our Big Shot Flower Folds projects.  We created this unique, fun way to display pictures of family, friends, special occasions, etc. using the Big Shot Flower Folds die and a mobile.  The most challenging part of this project was taking the finished picture since the mobile is constantly moving and twirling:)  This grouping was created using Halloween/Fall photos.  We used Always Artichoke, More Mustard, Dusty Durango and Chocolate Chip card stock to create most of the flowers.  Some of the pictures were cut out with the die and others were cut out using circle punches and placed in the centers.

Other flowers were embellished with buttons, bottle caps and ribbon for the centers.  The picture below shows one of the flowers that has a small photo used as the center.

The flowers were all cut out of regular card stock and then sponged and the Itty Bitty Backgrounds stamp set was used to add texture and dimension.

Beary Best Friends

This adorable card was created by Patti Higdon for a recent swap we had.  She used the Beary Best Friends stamp set from our Holiday Mini catalog.  It is hard to see in this photo, but Patti stamped, colored and cut out multiple layers on this card - from her dress to the candy corn in the bag to her shoes.  Way too cute! The card is Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, and Whisper White card stock.  The DSP is from the Specialty Designer Series Paper, Night & Day, that can also be found in our Holiday Mini catalog.

Cheers to You Birthday Card

To match the Top Note goodies box from Saturday's post, here is the birthday card I made for Mary.  Since Mary loves Halloween too, I kept with the Halloween paper and color theme.  I used Cheers To You, Itty Bitty Backgrounds and Enjoy Every Moment stamp sets.  "Enjoy" was stamped in VersaMark and then embossed with black embossing powder. The glasses were colored using blender pens, markers and ink pads.  Crystal effects and Dazzling Diamonds glitter were added to give the card some dimension and bling.

Top Note Goodies Box

I'm sure a lot of you have seen this cute box made using Stampin' Up!'s Top Note die and a basic box pattern.   I knew when I saw it that I had to make one.  So, for last Saturday's meeting project, we made a Christmas one using the Holiday Lineup stamp set.  It turned out very cute! 

This one was made for my friend and downline, Mary Bartlett, for her birthday last week.  She loves Halloween so that made my gift giving easy, especially with all the fun Halloween stamp sets we have.  I used  Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Old Olive and Perfect Plum card stock and Cast-A-Spell DSP.  The stamp set is Eat, Drink & Be Scary found on page 25 of the Stampin' Up! catalog. The hat was stamped on the DSP and then cut out and layered over the Halloween definition stamp.  

 

The inside of the box was filled with candy "goodies" and then tied with Pumpkin Pie grosgrain ribbon threaded through our large eyelets.

"Things I Love" Love Note

The last unknown holiday we are recognizing this month is "Love Notes Day."  This love note is 3x3 and fits perfectly in the mini square envelopes on page 168 of the current catalog.  Chocolate Chip and Close to Cocoa cardstock and Chocolate Chip DSP were used as well as Pretty in Pink grosgrain ribbon.  The "chocolates" are from the Things I Love stamp set found on page 54.

How many of you remember Russell Stovers chocolates that had pink and green covered candy as well as the regular chocolate?  We both do!  We haven't seen a box in awhile so we aren't sure if they still make them but we still loved the idea.

 

Pencil Box

Here is a fun pencil box pattern that I received from Mary.  These can be used for pencils or favors.  As you can see from the picture below,  both have been decorated for Halloween, but any theme will work - back-to-school, birthday parties, holidays, etc.

One box has been filled with Halloween pencils and the other with Pixie sticks.  I also found that Laffy Taffy fit as well as a few candy bars.  Have fun finding different treats and favors!  Download the pattern here.

Big Shot Wednesday Week #4

Week #4 - Flower Folds

In keeping with our fall  decorations, we decided to create this wonderful 12 x 12 tile using our featured Big Shot die, Flower Folds, as well as this beautiful saying from our Definitely Decorative Fall-Winter Catalog. This Decor Element can be found on page 8. The inspiration for this project came from one of our friends and a fellow demonstrator.(see details below)

 The flowers were cut out of Crushed Curry DSP.  We embellished the flower center with a pop bottle top and a 1" circle of Basic Black card stock. The flowers were sponged with Crushed Curry and then glued together using TomBow adhesive.

The leaves were made with the Big Shot die, Leaves #2, and Always Artichoke card stock. The texture was created using the Stampin' Up! Impressions embossing folder, Finial Press.  The leaves were sponged with Always Artichoke ink.  The ribbon is our 1-1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Basic Black.

As we mentioned earlier, this week's project was inspired by one of our friends and a fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.  Connie Haselrick made this tile for our annual Stampin' Up! Christmas party and Melissa just happened to be the lucky recipient of this lovely gift.  Thanks, Connie!!

White Chocolate Day!

We are still sharing ideas for the little known holidays!  We have decided this might become one of our specialties! Today is White Chocolate Day.  So, here is your excuse to spend the day celebrating chocolate. 

This little holder is perfect for a Ghiradelli square.  It could also hold a gift card very easily.  This one has been created with Soft Suede card stock and The Write Stuff Specialty DSP.  They can be closed with velcro, ribbon, or a belly band.  Here is the quick and easy pattern.View this photo

National Friendship Day!

Sunday was National Friendship Day so we decided to create something special that you could give to that one special friend or friends.  So often we are too busy with work, school, kids, etc. to tell those who mean so much just how important they really are. 

This gift card holder is the perfect way to give someone their favorite "thing".  Whether it is a trip to the coffee shop, book store or a spa day, this is a great way to showcase your gift card.  It is quick and easy and can be easily embellished for any number of special occasions.  This card holder is done using Rich Razzleberry card stock, Cottage Wall DSP, and Rich Razzleberry polka-dot grosgrain ribbon.  Download the pattern today and begin getting ready for the holidays.  This template has the pattern for the holder and the layered piece for each flap.  We used coordinating brads to keep the small flap closed for the gift card.  You could use eyelets or adhesive.

Penguin Nugget Holder

Here is another animal/character made with punches.  Melissa received one of these swaps from convention.  A couple of weeks ago, my stamp club made this as well as the lion from the August 27th post.  I think this penguin would be adorable on a gift tag or featured on a card.  Download this for the punch details.
