Eat, Drink & Be Scary

Here is a Halloween card that my club girls will be doing today.  Eat, Drink & Be Scary is the stamp set used and it can be found on page 25 in the current Stampin' Up! catalog.  The Designer Series Paper, Cast-A-Spell, is on page 161. All sheets can be trimmed to create 6" x 6"  and 8-1/2" x 11" pages.  You get 12 sheets: 2 eachof 6 doubled-sided designs. Acid and lignin free. 

Basic black card stock was used to create the card and then layered with the DSP.  The strip across the card is actually Lovely Lilac but looks blue in this photo.  Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive and Whisper White card stock were also used. I received a swap at convention that used ribbon for the band of the witch's hat.  I punched holes on either side and then taped the black grosgrain ribbon down before layering on the pumpkin pie and old olive card stocks.  The tagwas created using both the small and regular size tag punches from Stampin' UP!

 

Address Book Tutorial

Halloween Bags

I thought I would show these fun but easy little bags made with this month's featured Big Shot die, Fancy Favor.  All three are made with regular card stock and wheeled with black ink.  These really make very quick party favors or a quick workshop project.  Ribbon was used to close one and mini clothes pins were used on the other two.  A hole was punched in the center of one and covered with acetate.
As you can see, I only had odd colored clothes pins but quickly fixed that situation by coloring them with a Sharpie.  They dried very quickly.  Don't forget to think outside the box when you don't have  the color of embellishments you need!!!!  Have fun.

 

Lion Nugget Holder

Melissa came home with several fun swaps from convention and I fell in love with this lion.  I have made several of these from the sample she got from Michele Keifer.  I am going to let my stamp club make these next week so, sorry for the spoiler.

 

Here is a picture of the "parts."  The "box" measures 1-1/2" x 5".  It is scored at 2" and 3".  The head is one Chocolate Chip scallop circle, one 1-3/8" More Mustard circle, two 3/4" More Mustard circles("cheeks"), two 1/4" More Mustard circles (ears), one 1/4" Chocolate Chip circle (nose), and one 1/4" Pretty in Pink circle (tongue).  The paws are one 3/4" Chocolate Chip circle cut in half.  I used a Chocolate Chip marker to make the eyes, mark the paws and to create "dots" on the "cheeks."

The tail is a piece of brown pipe cleaner and a pom pom on the end.  I punched a 1/8" hole in the back at the base to insert the pipe cleaner through to give the tail more stability.  I sponged around most of the More Mustard parts with Chocolate Chip.

 

Big Shot Wednesday

Week #4 - Fancy Favor

For this month's final Big Shot Wednesday project using the Bigz XL die, Fancy Favor, we created this desktop organizer.  Well, that's what we decided to use it for but the options are endless.  We started by cutting 4 boxes out of Sweet Slumber (retired) cover-weight card stock. The current cover-weight card stocks are To The Nines and Storybook Specialty on page 163 in the current catalog.  This cover-weight card stock is awesome to use for 3-D projects. 

All the boxes were adhered together using sticky strip.  We cut pieces of chip board to put in the bottom of each box for re-enforcement.  The bottom band wraps all the way around the  box and was also applied using sticky strip.  This really helped hold it all together neat and tight. The flower was cut out using the new Flower Folds die.  The layers were glued together using Tombow Multi Purpose adhesive.  A one inch circle punched from the Sweet Slumber DSP, a clear button and Linen Thread complete the flower.

This view shows the inside of the box.  You can see there is a lot of storage space.  Just think of all the uses for this project - in the kitchen, in a bathroom, on a dresser in the bedroom...... 

Remember to "think  outside the box."  LOL

Trendy Trees

The theme for one of my clubs this month is Fall and Halloween so I thought I'd share another one of the cards they will be making next week. This card features the Trendy Trees stamp set.  I used Soft Suede, Chocolate Chip, More Mustard and Very Vanilla card stock.  The striped paper is from the Autumn Traditions designer series paper.  The trees were stamped with Always Artichoke, Ruby Red, Crushed Curry and Soft Suede.  A button, Soft Suede polka dot ribbon and a saying Thanks so Much finishes the card.

Fall Pumpkin Card

This is a card I designed for my Club this month based off one of the cards we did as a Make and Take at Convention.  I used Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla and Old Olive card stock.  The belly band was made using Crushed Curry DSP.

First cut your card stock 4 1/2 x 11.  Score at 3 1/2 and 9 inches. The inside piece is Very Vanilla card stock cut 5 1/4 x 4.  I stamped "happy harvest" from the Loads of Love stamp set in the corner.

The belly band is a piece of Crushed Curry DSP cut at 1 1/2 x 12 and then folded around the card and glued where the ends overlap.  5/8" Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon was wrapped around and glued to the belly band.

I used our new embossing folder "Final Press" to give the card some dimension.  The pumpkin was made using our small oval punch.  They ovals were sponged with pumpkin pie and stamped with Itty Bitty backgrounds.  The pumpkin top is one of the flowers (cut in half) from the Boho Blossoms punch using Old Olive card stock.  The pumpkin was layered on Very Vanilla (edges are sponged with Old Olive) and then on Chocolate Chip.  It was adhered to the band using Dimensionals.

Jewelry Shared by Shelli & Sara

Shelli shared these during one of the Opening sessions.  She and Sara created these using DSP and our round metal edge tags. The gift holder was very similar to the matchbook style one we posted eariler that held paper clips.

 

She also shared a covered headband using the Big Shot and dies.  These earrings were done with DSP and the light weight chipboard that comes in your designer paper.  The pearls are from our Pretties Kit.

 

The black hoops were very elegant looking and Sara, Shelli's daughter, actually wore these to Awards Night.  The smaller earrings were done using our Boho Blossoms punch and glued to regular post earrings.

 

The black and white houndstooth earrings with Summer Sun Corduroy buttons, have to be my favorite.

3-D Project Photos from Convention

Hopefully, you are all enjoying seeing these awesome projects that were shared at convention.  I took so many wonderful pictures and will continue to share them through this week and then, back to work we go!  This is a cupcake made out of ribbon.  Can you believe it?

These are coasters and a matching box.  The Nature Silhouettes stamp set was embossed on the coasters.  Notice the tab punch and jumbo eyelets were used on the corners, this adds great detail to the box.
